The Porsche 911 SC restored by Aim Leon Dore

Luxury 22/05/2021

A classic Porsche 911, the aesthetic vision of a fashion designer and a unique restoration without repairing luxuries. That is the formula the German brand seems to be subscribing to to create true works of art from its archive. And his last wonder is this Porsche 911 SC restored with Aimé Leon Dore, a New York firm famous for its collaborations, which has made it a fantasy for lovers of nostalgia.

Although this fashion house founded in 2014 is still not very well known worldwide, it has become one of the current sensations of the New York and Instagram scene, especially as a result of their collaborations with shoe brands. In fact, its founder, Teddy Santis, has just signed on as the new creative director of none other than New Balance.

And this is not the first time that both companies have worked together on such a project. In 2020 they restored a 911 Carrera 4 type 964, which was exhibited within the New York Fashion Week. On this second occasion, it is also a unique example, which Santis, an American of Greek descent, has wanted to connect with the most personal memories of his childhood.

"The design of the vehicle comes from my childhood on the Greek islands. And the unique beauty of things that get better with age and with wear and tear in that environment, "says the designer. That’s why he chose, to recreate the Mediterranean atmosphere, the classic 'Porsche Olive' paint tone. The new 'Super Carrera' look, a model manufactured between 1978 and 1983, is completed with auxiliary headlights on the hood, spectacular Fuchs tires and a roof full of objects, reminiscent of the travels of other times.

But the Porsche 911 SC restored by Aimé Leon Dore stands out above all for an interior care down to the last detail to achieve a feeling of comforting familiarity. The most curious thing is that the rugs created from scraps of Persian carpets. And, to top it off, Santis also integrated this material into the doors. The seats, restored by their original manufacturer, Recaro, are topped off by ball backs that scream nostalgia. And there are even old photos placed on the driver’s visor. Needless to say, all the materials are handcrafted and hand-worked.

Now, this unique car will be exhibited at Aimé Leon Dore’s 'boutique' in New York until Saturday, May 23. And at the same time, the fashion brand will launch a capsule collection using the same materials and motifs that have been used in this project.
