Highlights Rafael Nadal vs Casper Ruud Final-Roland Garros

Tennis 05/06/2022

Rafael Nadal is still the king of Paris. The Spanish tennis player won 6-3, 6-3 and 6-0 to the Norwegian Casper Ruud in the final and was crowned champion of Roland Garros for the 14th time in his career. In addition, he stretched his grand slam record to 22.

It was a match without equivalences on the court Philippe Chatrier. The Spaniard was intractable against a Ruud who was very erratic in the most important game of his career, after crossing out Marin Cilic in semis.

Nadal, who had just advanced to the final game after the retirement injury of Alex Zverev, brought out his best tennis from the beginning, and broke the serve to his opponent in the first chance he had.

From there, it was all Nadal, with a serve that was very firm, 82% of points won with the first service, and a spectacular winners/forced errors radius (37/18). On the other side, Ruud did not walk and ended with 26 errors and only 16 winning shots.

Ruud dreamt of a comeback after hitting the top 3-1 of the second set. However, Nadal set foot on the accelerator, won eleven games in a row and ended up liquidating the lawsuit with a reverse parallel to the line, to stay with the title after only two hours and 20 minutes of play.

It is a historic title for Nadal, who started the year with serious doubts because of the chronic injury to his foot, but who already obtained the two most important tournaments of the season (Australian Open and Roland Garros), to take two advantage of Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic among the greatest grand slam winners in history.
