A photo of American actor Michael B. Jordan, the Hollywood star who has participated in films such as Black Panther and Creed, appeared on a wanted list by the Ceará Civil Police, in northern Brazil, suspected of participating in a massacre that took place at Christmas.
The image was one of three photos from the Photographic Reconnaissance catalog that were used by authorities to identify one of the suspects involved in the crime, and that resulted in the capture of a 17-year-old teenager, authorities confirmed this Friday.
The massacre took place in the early morning of 25 December, when a group of hooded men entered a soccer field in the Sapiranga neighborhood of Fortaleza, the capital of Ceará, killing five men and injuring six others. According to the police, 28 people have so far been linked to the massacre.
Photo identification is one of the procedures used by the authorities to confirm a suspect in a crime and on some occasions they use photographs of personalities to check the credibility of witnesses who are pointing to an accused.

"Photographic recognition is only one of the steps that can lead to the imputation of a defendant. Witness statements and the expertise of crime scene experts (fingerprint collection, security camera analysis, for example) are also part of the investigation process, "police said in a statement.
He also noted that using such images "does not reflect the routine" of that agency and said that such a procedure will not be used again to identify suspects, but will use photographs of people with a history of similar crimes.
Jordan, who is also a producer and director, became known with the American series Friday Night Lights and his first major film role was with Fruitvale Station under Ryan Coogler.
This director became one of his most loyal allies in Hollywood as he not only recruited him for Creed but made him a major world star with Black Panther, in which he personified the main villain. The actor will now debut as a director with Creed’s third film, the saga that brought Rocky’s legendary boxing stories back to the ring and big screen.
